Before You Sleep
Leave your guilt by the door,
By your slippers and your robe;
Let your worries settle there, too,
And let shame and embarrassment
Slip quietly away—
There’s no room for such burdens here.
Instead, fill your mind
With memories of laughter,
With voices that warm your heart.
Remember the smiles of loved ones,
And let those treasures
Accompany you to bed.
You’ve done all you could today,
Led with a heart full of love;
You’ve toiled, and you’ve cared,
And that is always enough.
So release that heavy load
To the stars above.
Now rest, close your eyes,
Allow your fears to fade away,
Surrender to the slumber you crave.
You give your all to this beautiful life—
Welcome sweet dreams, and greet a new day.
