I was born and raised in Derry N. Ireland. Some years ago in Montana USA, I was watching a movie with Irish actors. My grandson (about 2 or so at the time) said “Granny, they talk like you. I explained that the actors were from Ireland like me. He said “so they are your people”. (Smart boy) I of course said yes. He asked “are they my people too?” I stopped the movie to explain. I said,”yes they are” . “Your daddy (RIP) was born in Ireland, that makes you first generation Irish”.
Later that evening I was watching the finish of the film with my grandson when he said to the rest of the family who were engaged in conversation, “Please be quiet, my people are talking”.
