Ace Daily News – The top prosecutor in England and Wales has warned that hundreds more people involved in the riots that have swept the country will be hauled before the courts in the coming days, with the most severe offenders facing up to ten years in jail

Stephen Parkinson, the director of public prosecutions, said the number of charging decisions is expected to soar with a “new phase” of cases being brought by police. Many of those charged so far have been prosecuted for violent disorders, which carries a maximum sentence of five years. However, Parkinson said the more severe offence of rioting — which carries up to a ten-year penalty — was now under consideration – Sunday Times

Thousands across UK protest against racism as Reform HQ targeted

“Reform UK’s central London offices were targeted by activists as part of widespread anti-racism protests on Saturday. More than 3,000 protesters, backed by drummers, shouted slogans and held banners aloft in front of the party’s base in the centre of the capital. Half a dozen police officers stood guard, with reinforcements stationed nearby. Addressing the crowd, Samira Ali, the national organiser of Stand Up To Racism, said: “We are standing here today to send a message to Nigel Farage and Reform UK. “Sir Keir Starmer has suffered a sharp slump in popularity after criticism of his handling of the riots that have hit Britain. New polling for The Telegraph shows the Prime Minister’s approval ratings have plummeted in the fortnight since the far-Right unrest broke out, revealing that the proportion of voters with a “strongly unfavourable” view of him rose by six points after the first week of violence. Sir Keir has been criticised over his slow response to the unrest, including a decision not to hold a Cobra meeting until a week after the disorder first began. Since then, he has also faced accusations, including from Elon Musk, the US tech entrepreneur, that he has overseen “two-tier” policing of the violence.” – Sunday Telegraph
