MORE ON THE REVOLUTION

The ongoing revolution of which we are a part is about elevating our individual awareness & utilizing the energy that comes from that higher place to serve the world. Those 2 things seem to go together for many people. We’ve been told that we have certain inalienable rights, including “life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness.” some years ago I noticed that it says we can pursue happiness, but that pursuit doesn’t come with any guarantees we will find it.

By now, you’ve probably noticed that women are the leaders of this movement. For much of our lives, we’ve been led to believe by some people who supposedly know what they are talking about that we are involved in an ongoing war between the sexes. I don’t think that’s true.

Back in the 60’s & 70’s, I became aware of the women’s movement & I concluded what was happening was about attaining greater freedom & equality for all women & men. I still think that’s true, although I no longer describe myself as a feminist. Unfortunately, that word has been so kicked around so much by both women & men that it comes with quite a bit of finger pointing & emotional charge..

I don’t think it has to be that way. Most of the women & men I know are people who are in long, loving, mutually beneficial relationships. I see generations of men describing themselves with words such as “lonely, confused, alienated, emasculated, victimized by women, etc.” Women mostly talk about how angry they are.

This is far from a hopeless situation! In fact, I think it is a great time to welcome the journey before us & to find better ways to meet the challenges of these troubled times. One of the great things about the revolution is that we get to decide what team we want to play for & I made my choice long ago. We’re the folks who like to party & we want do something about the violence, hypocrisy, racism, bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, destruction of the environment & other insane things we are witnessing in the world.
