“THE CO-OPERATION NATION ON PROBATION!” a poem a.k.a.: “Policy Change: Give Us Your Masses, Yearning To Be Free!!’ March 28, 2019 (Thursday)

When-The-Mystic-Poet was a lad – he got to attend “The Point,”*
Where “they” preached – cooperation! all-across-“the joint!”
“Co-operate and graduate” was-a-motto often said,
But-in-retro-spect, it-was-more-like-“lip-service,” that we boys were fed!
For, the idea: “ACT-AS-A-TEAM” might-have-a-“rotten-goal,”
Like killing bad, ol’ “Charlie Cong!”** Are we “falling into a hole?”
Which-happens when you are being led,
By officers that don’t much care if you’re dead,
‘Cause you’re “canon fodder” – for The Cause,
THE CO-OPERATION-NATION BUZZES AND SAWS!

It-now-seeks-to [severely] limit folks from coming in!
There-used-to-be-An-Open-Door-Policy, but-then- the-plan-was-“sin!”
To hurt and retain, ship-’em-back – to no homes!
Where’s-the-co-operation in that? for-a-young-person-oft’-roams,
Seeking comfort – happiness – and a little food to eat!

Begrudging-visitors-except-The-Rich?! Kindness will not mete,
Out-hurt-and-disdain – to those in need!
Don’t-folks-have-a-bible? Can’t-folks-still-read?
AND LOVE-ALL-PEOPLE?! even-“enemies!”
“You-needn’t-love-me-back, yet I’ll offer-you ease,
Because in-this-life HARSHNESS-can-easily-prevail!”

OR – YOU CAN CO-OPERATE! and-write-[you]-“A-Loving-Tale!”

* – West Point, N. Y. – The U. S. Military Academy, a.k.a.: “The Long, Gray Line!”

** – One marching cadence song, sung by groups of young, aspiring military officers at West Point, has[d] the lyrics: “I wanna go to Vi-et Nam! I wanna kill – old Charlie Cong!” I wondered if any priests or ministers at the various churches on base heard us singing these songs on Sunday morning! 🙂 – or any morning, for that matter!
