“A KIND PLACE”
I hope, somehow, not far away there is a place,
Beyond disease, a peaceful race,
Who won’t resort to hurting word,
And hurting thought and think absurd,
The notions such a weaponize,
And armed resistance, and will not rise,
To so dishonor conscience’s lean,
But I have clearly often seen,
A fighting, bitter spirit rise,
And take a sensible disguise,
May I refuse to fight and say:
“I wish to live in peace today.”
But where we’re at is not that place,
And I can not hide my anguish,
So, here I lie and hope away,
Let’s all hope for a better day.
