#AceNewsReport – Feb.08: (Interfax) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron have built a constructive and substantive relationship, which leads to their intensive communication, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

The Kremlin said it was prepared for a long conversation between Putin and Macron. “Yes, the Kremlin was ready for that. Putin and Macron have established a highly constructive and truly substantive relationship, which allows them to spend much time communicating with one another. Besides, this is quite an extraordinary situation that requires conversations of this kind,” Peskov said.
The Russian side assumed that the talks would be long, especially as Macron decided to spend the night in Moscow before going to Kyiv, he said.
Peskov explained Macron’s decision to stay at a Moscow hotel rather than at the Kremlin as due to the impossibility of accommodating all delegation members on the Kremlin grounds. “This is the choice made by our guests. If I am not mistaken, the Kremlin is undergoing a refurbishment or something, and I am not sure the work is over. Still, most guests preferred to stay at a hotel because the Kremlin cannot accommodate all members of the large delegation for obvious reasons, and a hotel provides compact accommodation,” he said.
Putin and Macron talked for about 20 minutes more after the press conference, Peskov said.
According to Peskov, the long conversation was desired by both Putin and Macron. “The extremely tense agenda and the presentation of arguments, at least by our president in regard to our posture, clearly required time,” he said.
