It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this, thy brother was dead, and is alive again, and was lost, and is found.
The father of the prodigal son was prepared to celebrate. His son had been dead, but now he is alive. What an excellent reflection of our Heavenly Father. When we stray from His ways and follow our paths, He is prepared to receive us when we return. And He receives us not with condemnation but with welcome and celebration!
Heavenly Father, thank You for not giving up on me. Thank You for waiting patiently through my failures, my wanderings, and my sins. Thank You for showing me the road back to You and welcoming me with open arms. You are merciful and kind, Lord. Help me always to remember Your love so that I may not stray again. In Jesus’ name, amen.
