Ukraine is a country located in Eastern Europe. It has a rich and complex history that dates back thousands of years. Here are some key points about the history of Ukraine:

Ancient and Medieval Era: The region of present-day Ukraine was inhabited by various ancient civilisations, including the Scythians, Sarmatians, and Goths. In the 9th century, the area was influenced by the Kyivan Rus, a medieval East Slavic state. This period saw the emergence of Kyiv as a significant political and cultural centre.

Mongol Rule: In the 13th century, the Mongols invaded the Kyivan Rus and established the Golden Horde, which ruled the region for several centuries. During this period, she brought significant political and social changes to Ukraine.

Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth: In the 14th century, Ukraine came under the control of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This era saw the rise of the Cossacks, a semi-nomadic warrior class, who played a significant role in Ukrainian history.
