The color of the sun can appear yellow to our eyes, but in reality, the sun emits light across a wide spectrum of colors.
The sun’s surface temperature is about 5,500 degrees Celsius (9,932 degrees Fahrenheit), which corresponds to a peak emission of light in the green part of the spectrum.
However, our atmosphere scatters shorter wavelengths of light (such as blue and violet) more than longer wavelengths (such as red and yellow).
This scattering effect causes the sun to appear more yellow to us when we observe it from Earth.
