We have all been in a situation where we unintentionally hurt the people we love the most, and we tend to appreciate them the least. It is pretty standard to take those close to us for granted. It’s been said that we show what is important to us by where we invest our time. Therefore, it becomes necessary to ask ourselves some tough questions like what are our priorities and whether our actions are aligned with them. We need to check if our daily routine reflects the same and supports our priorities.
From “The Beautiful Things We Miss.” by Matthew West: “This is my heart’s cry. “I don’t want to miss it. I don’t want to look back someday and find everything that really mattered was right in front of me the whole time. Open up my eyes, Lord. Keep me in the moments just like this, before the beautiful things we love become the beautiful things we miss.”
Jim Carrey, a highly successful and wealthy actor, once said, “I believe that everyone should strive to become rich and famous and achieve everything they have ever dreamed of so that they can realise that these things are not the ultimate solution to happiness.”
What if you woke up to find that what matters most is miles away from what you spent your life chasing after? What the world promises will make us happy will leave us feeling empty. Don’t miss it. Ask yourself some of the hard questions now, so you’re not asking them when it’s too late, at the end of your life!
Have you ever heard of the verse from the Bible, Mark 8:36? It says, “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” This powerful statement makes us reflect on what truly matters in life. Let’s think about it together.
