Survivor Guilt💥

I was just watching SBS Insight about survivor guilt. I have experienced some of that, and I’m left thinking, “Would my friends want me to be sad?”

They wouldn’t want me to forget them, but they wouldn’t want me to be sad.

And, if they were alive and I were dead, I wouldn’t want them to be sad.

I wasn’t surprised to hear that it’s not uncommon for people who believe that life is supposed to be just to experience it.

I also heard from a sole survivor of a plane crash in Vietnam, who said that her son was diagnosed as autistic, which she at first thought was unlucky, but she then said, “But his mind has taken me places I have never even dreamt of.”

That’s what I think ALL parents of autistic kids should think.

Parents of autistic kids SHOULDN’T be wanting their kids to be neurotypical, they SHOULD be thinking, “Where might their journey take me that I haven’t been?”
