She Now, I see with calm eyes the essence of life: a being who breathes with thoughtfulness, a traveller between life and death. Her reasoning is firm, and her will is steady. She embodies endurance, foresight, strength, and skill. She is a perfect woman, nobly designed to warn, soothe, comfort, and lead. Yet, she remains a bright spirit, radiating a touch of angelic light. as a Phantom of Delight
WILLIAM WORDSWORTH
(Born April 7, 1770; Died April 23, 1850;
She was a phantom of delight. When she first appeared before my sight, it was a lovely apparition sent to be a moment’s ornament. Her eyes shone like stars in twilight fair; Like twilight’s, too, was her dusky hair. But all else about her seemed Drawn from the cheerful dawn of May: A dancing shape, an image bright To haunt, startle, and waylay.
Upon a closer view, I saw her clearly— A spirit and a woman! Her household movements were light and free, with steps of pure liberty, a face that could be found, sweet memories, and sweet promises. A being not too bright or suitable For the daily needs of human nature, With transient sorrows, simple wiles, Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears, and smiles.
Now, I see the very essence of life with calm eyes: a being who breathes with thoughtfulness, a traveller between life and death. Her reasoning is firm, and her will is steady. She embodies endurance, foresight, strength, and skill. She is a perfect woman, nobly designed to warn, soothe, comfort, and lead. Yet, she remains a bright spirit, radiating a touch of angelic light.
