HOUSE-POET

I recognise that sometimes, in the tapestry of our stories, roles can shift, and I find myself in a position where I might be seen as the villain. There was a time when I believed I needed to share my version of events, driven by a desire for my intentions and feelings, which I know to be pure, to be recognised. It was painful to think that someone could portray me in a negative light when all I ever wanted was to love, understand, and show up to the best of my ability.

I held onto the hope that revealing my truth would shift the narrative. Yet, I’ve come to understand that people often cling to their perspectives, sometimes even crafting a storyline that brings them comfort, regardless of the facts. It’s a natural part of the human experience.

Ultimately, I’ve realised I don’t need to prove myself to anyone. Validation isn’t necessary for the authenticity of my heart and feelings. Some truths stand firm independently; certain stories need no audience to validate them. I’ve chosen to embrace the role of the villain in their narrative, finding solace in knowing that this perspective may offer them the healing they need.

If someone struggles to see, feel, or understand, I’ve found clarity in stepping away from that narrative. I know the validity of my emotions and have come to appreciate that true peace arises from the understanding that not every story demands a defence. Sometimes, simply holding on to the truth is enough.
