The Poison of Impurity
Among you, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality or any impurity because these are improper for God’s holy people. (Ephesians 5:3, NIV)
In God’s eyes, impurity is one of the most repugnant sins, as it twists and distorts one of His most precious gifts: human love. Impurity reduces this gift to the level of the beast.
Yet, impurity surrounds us, manifesting in filthy stories, suggestive remarks, and overt vulgarity found in magazines, television, movies, and the Internet. It often receives favourable treatment, while purity is dismissed as smug. Unfortunately, people downplay the consequences of this destructive sin. Satan rarely mentions the remorse, futility, loneliness, and spiritual devastation that accompany immorality.
But Christ can cleanse you and grant you victory over your sin. Jesus told the immoral woman, “Go and sin no more” (John 8:11). He extends that same message to you—He never instructs anyone to do something without providing the power to accomplish it.
