Who teaches you? Who do you allow to guide your journey? It’s a beautiful question to reflect upon! One of the passages we once explored speaks about “blind guides,” reminding us how essential it is to seek true wisdom. The psalms tell us that our ultimate teacher and guide is the Lord. Engaging with Scripture—reading, studying, and reflecting on the Old and New Testaments—fills our hearts with the guidance we need. When we try to connect with these timeless truths, we find joy in their wisdom and avoid being led astray by those who may not have our best interests at heart.
The world offers a loud and enticing message: Do whatever makes you happy, even if it means stepping over others; avoid responsibility at all costs; prioritise wealth over relationships; and chase after fleeting desires. Yet, we find a more uplifting path in the teachings of the commandments and the Beatitudes! God calls us to seek peace, justice, love, and forgiveness. These are the beautiful ways of Jesus, inviting us to live joyfully and purposefully.
As beloved children created in God’s image, we can care for our world and each other. When we welcome the stranger, extend a hand to those in need, and show kindness to the vulnerable, we embody God’s guidance and love. Let us joyfully return to the Scriptures over and over, allowing their transformative teachings to guide us through life so we can experience their fulfilment now and in the life to come!
