What does your heart reveal? God helps us manage our mouths by addressing the heart directly. Have you ever found yourself saying, “I don’t know what got into me; I’m not that kind of person?” The truth is, nothing comes out of your mouth without first residing in your heart. It’s not just your mouth that can lead you astray; it’s the condition of your heart! The Bible reminds us, “Whatever is in your heart determines what you say” (Matthew 12:34 NLT).
Your words are a reflection of your heart’s state. A harsh tongue often signals an angry heart, while excessive bragging reveals insecurity. Someone who talks too much may have an unsettled heart, and critical words can come from bitterness. Conversely, sharing encouraging words is a sign of a joyful heart. Offering gentle support to those in need shows a loving heart, and speaking kind and comforting words demonstrates a heart filled with peace.
Your words illuminate your inner world. Contamination can only be addressed at the source. When God helps you control your mouth, He transforms you from within. God specialises in heart transplants and is always ready to change anyone who comes to Him, regardless of their past.
