But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
It’s easy to take our eyes off of eternity and become consumed with day-to-day life. But Jesus reminds us that the things of this earth are temporary, here for a season, and then gone in a flash. So let us prepare for Jesus’ return by living as His kingdom people now, doing good in His name, and sharing His love and grace, so that when He comes, we are ready, and others may be ready, too.
Lord, sometimes I get distracted by the cares of life and neglect the kingdom work that You have called me to. Renew my sense of urgency to proclaim the good news and share your grace with others. Empower me to live in a way that always testifies to Your love and Your grace, so that You may draw others to Yourself through me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
