Hey there! Last week, we kicked off our study of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and tomorrow, we’ll wrap it up. Today’s reflection focuses on the significance of our calling as Christians and the unity that Jesus envisioned at the Last Supper. We all know that we are unworthy of salvation and faith, but Paul reminds us that our behaviour must reflect the gift we have been given – we should strive to be humble, patient, loving, and peaceable. Our mission is to build bridges, not create divisions. After all, nothing pleases Satan more than seeing Christians at odds with each other. Unfortunately, division has been prevalent since the early days, but Paul and other apostles worked tirelessly to spread the Gospel message, so that unity would prevail, not the “gates of hell” that Jesus spoke of when he named Peter the rock upon whom he was building his church in Matthew 16. In my experience, the best way to build bridges is to work together, and that means getting to know one another. I once worked with a group of teenagers and invited a minister to speak to them. He talked about how he lived his Christianity, which was all about being kind and generous – values we should all strive to uphold. The thing that surprised me was how relatable he was – he spoke our language, shared our struggles, and inspired us to be better people.
