I understand that the words “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” may sound harsh. However, it is essential to remember that they were written in a different context and time. Let us find common ground and understanding instead of promoting hostility and division.
This verse is considered the first mention of the Gospel in the Bible and is often called the Protagonist. It’s a bit of a puzzle, and we’re not sure how well people before Jesus’ time understood it. But now, with the help of the New Testament, we can see that it refers to Jesus, who was born of a virgin and defeated Satan. While he was able to defeat Satan, he was also hurt in the process and eventually died on the cross.
Show us that Your Word, Lord, is indeed “the Christ Book.” Open our eyes to see Jesus in the Old Testament, just as You opened the eyes of those on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24). However, let us seek a better understanding of Your Word, not for entertainment or mere accumulation of knowledge, but so that we may love You and serve You more. Amen.⚜️🙏⚜️
