However, it should not be the case within your ranks; rather, whoever aspires to prominence among you must assume the role of a servant or minister to others.
Have you ever engaged in the childhood game ‘King of the Hill’? The mechanics of the game illustrate a clear dynamic of power: the dominant player maintains their position by displacing competitors and asserting their physicality. This scenario serves as a microcosm of worldly power dynamics, where dominance often relies on exclusion and subjugation of others. In stark contrast, Jesus presents a radical paradigm, challenging the conventional notion of greatness by advocating for servitude and upliftment of others. This ethos is foundational to the establishment of God’s kingdom, where influence is measured not by one’s ability to dominate but by the capacity to elevate and serve fellow beings.
Jesus, I express my gratitude for exemplifying the ultimate model of servitude. You incarnated and sacrificed yourself, enabling the elevation of humanity through Your grace. Grant me the ability to embody that grace by serving others and empowering them through Your love, facilitated by the work of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.
