Several years ago Christian pop artist Mandisa made famous the song called “Overcomer.”
It soon became the anthem of every Christian who needed reminding that God has given in the power to overcome their circumstances.
There are many times when we don’t feel powerful and we need to be reminded that, because we have God on our side, we can do anything.
He has fought the battles we don’t have to fight.
He is mighty and holy.
He is the Lord of all creation.
He has chosen us and because He has chosen us, we have overcome every obstacle that faces us.
In this passage, once again, John reiterates that we are overcomers.
In this passage, he tells us how.
All those who are born of God overcome the world through faith.
So if we are believers, if we are “born into God” as His children, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, then we can overcome any obstacle.
