“COOKIE TIME”
If you see a little old lady alone at the rest home, Give her a cookie. This is the theme of this poem, Make it a homemade cookie, the best you can give, And it might be the real, only reason any of us have to live.
To give something sweet, like a cookie or a smile, Maybe the essential thing in life, all the while, And, even if she doesn’t believe you, tell her that you love her, Even if you don’t think it, say it anyway and create a stir.
Life is for moments like that, especially when you’re silly and young, And especially when you’re older, even if all this seems far-flung, Still, give a cookie, and if everyone is lucky, it will make her day, Her week and month and year. Years can be sad and grey.
So, give a cookie, give a smile, say “I love you,” at least try, Or you can waste more of life, doubting and asking “Why?“
