The six packs of Woolworths Shortcrust Summer Berry Mince Pies were sold only in New South Wales stores and have a best-before date of June 13, 2024.

According to the state’s Food Authority, there is a risk the products may contain metal.

In a statement, the authority has advised consumers against eating the pies.

“Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund,” the statement said.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.”

A Woolworths spokesman said the move was precautionary and it had not received any complaints from customers about the product.

“This recall affects a total of 560 packets sold,” Woolworths said in a statement.

“Woolworths encourages customers to check the specific variety of Woolworths fruit mince pies in their cupboard and only respond to the recall if it is labelled ‘Summer Berry’ with a best before date of ‘BB 13/06/2024’.

“Customers should avoid consuming the affected product and return it to their nearest Woolworths supermarket or Metro store for a full refund.”

Packs of traditional fruit mince pies are not affected.
