Morgan Freeman has taken an inspiring step by transforming his sprawling 124-acre ranch in the serene landscapes of Mississippi into a comprehensive bee sanctuary, where he actively works without the usual beekeeper suit.
In a heartfelt commitment to wildlife conservation, Freeman began this project in 2019, initially introducing 26 specially imported hives to his property. To nurture and support his buzzing residents, he thoughtfully planted a variety of flora, including fragrant magnolia trees, vibrant lavender, and lush clover, ensuring that the bees have an abundant food supply throughout every season.
Freeman has shared his fascinating experience of feeding the bees sugar water, highlighting that, remarkably, he has never been stung despite farming his hives without any protective gear.
In a time when nearly half of all bee colonies in the United States are disappearing at an alarming rate, local beekeepers are optimistic that dedicated private initiatives like Freeman’s can play a crucial role in reversing this trend, inspiring a collective effort to protect these vital pollinators.
