#AceNewsReport – June.30: The videos and photos, captured by the camera installed on the Tianwen-1 spacecraft’s Zhurong rover, show the lander deploying a parachute before touching down on the Mars surface and the rover driving away from its landing platform onto the land.

The China National Space Administration (CNSA) releases first video from Zhurong Mars rover: The six-wheeled rover is surveying an area known as Utopia Planitia, especially searching for signs of water or ice that could provide clues as to whether Mars ever sustained life.A new space orderAt a time of heightened political tensions between China and the West, space is emerging as an important front in the geopolitical struggle.

“When we were designing, we wanted to obtain some visual states of the rover, which could be used as a basis for further improvement of the project,” Rao Wei, deputy chief designer of the Tianwan-1 Probe, said.

State broadcaster CCTV said the Zhurong rover had been working on the Red Planet for 42 days and had so far moved 236 metres.

China landed a spacecraft on Mars for the first time on May 15, 2021, — the latest step forward in its ambitious goals in space.

The rover drove down from its landing platform to the Martian surface on May 22, starting its exploration of the Red Planet.

“According to the telemetry, we can see that the landing point is only 3 kilometres away from our designed position,” Mr Rao said.

The rover, named after the Chinese god of fire, Zhurong, is expected to be deployed for 90 days to search for evidence of life on Mars.

China is the second country to land and operate a spacecraft on Mars, following the United States.

The space mission comes as the Chinese Communist Party celebrates its 100-year anniversary.

Last week, three Chinese astronauts successfully boarded an unfinished space station, the Tianhe, where they will stay for three months — the longest stay in low-Earth orbit by any Chinese national.

The Tianhe is the due to be completed in 2022 and will be the only alternative to the two-decade-old, US-led International Space Station (ISS), which may be retired in 2024.
