#AceNewsDesk – Inner West Child Protection and Investigation Unit detectives attached to Operation Uniform Capricorn, have charged a man in relation to alleged historical child sex offences in Brisbane, Africa and New Zealand between 2014 and 2019.
On Friday January 6 detectives executed a search warrant at a Jindalee address taking a 35-year-old man into custody without incident.
Investigators will allege the man sexually assaulted a number of teenage boys throughout a five year period in his capacity as a secondary school teacher, youth group leader and sports facilitator across the following suburbs: Toowong, Mount Tamborine, Pullenvale, Darra and Dakabin.
Officers allege the overseas offending involved his domestic victims when they travelled with the man as part of youth groups to New Zealand and Africa.
He has been charged with eleven offences, including three counts each of sexual activity (person outside of Australia when in a position of trust or authority) and sexual assault and five counts of indecent treatment.
He appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday January 7. He was remanded in custody and his matter will next be heard on Friday 20 January.
Investigations remain ongoing with detectives appealing for anyone with information which may assist investigations to contact them.
