  • ACT — No deaths, 61 cases in hospital
  • NSW — 11 deaths, 1,584 cases in hospital
  • NT — No deaths, 29 cases in hospital
  • QLD — Six deaths, 572 cases in hospital
  • SA — Six deaths, 232 cases in hospital
  • TAS — Two deaths, 55 cases in hospital
  • VIC — 12 deaths, 376 cases in hospital
  • WA — Three historical deaths, 236 cases in hospital

Victoria

There have been 12 COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 376 cases in hospital, with 19 of those in intensive care and two requiring ventilation.

There were 10,293 new cases on Tuesday.

New South Wales

The state has recorded 11 more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 1,584 cases in hospital, 70 of them in intensive care. 

There were 15,334 new cases announced on Tuesday.

Tasmania 

Tasmania has recorded two COVID-related deaths, taking the total number since the start of the pandemic to 36.

A woman in her 60s died in an aged care facility in the state’s south, and a man in his 60s died in an aged care facility in the north.

There were 2,050 new cases recorded.

There are 55 people in hospital, with 26 being treated specifically for COVID symptoms.

Queensland

Queensland has recorded six COVID-19 deaths and 7,882 new cases. 

There are 572 people in hospital with the virus, with 16 of those in ICU.

ACT

The ACT has recorded 923 new COVID-19 cases.

There are 61 people in hospital with the virus in Canberra, including two patients in intensive care, both of whom require ventilation.

Western Australia

WA has recorded 6,348 new COVID-19 cases and confirmed the deaths of three people with the virus dating back to April 6.

A woman in her 80s, a woman in her 60s and a man in his 30s are among the state’s latest COVID fatalities.

There are 236 people with COVID-19 in hospital, with seven of them in intensive care, and 40,169 known active cases in the state.

South Australia

Another six people have died with COVID in SA, where 4,401 new cases have been recorded today.

There are 232 people hospitalised with the virus with 12 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, new Premier Peter Malinauskis has announced that South Australians will no longer have to wear masks in most indoor public spaces from Friday.

Masks will still be required in high-risk settings like hospitals, aged care or residential disability facilities, on public transport and in ride-share vehicles.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory has recorded 512 new COVID cases, putting the number of known active cases at 3,152.

Of the 29 people currently being treated for the virus in hospital, six require oxygen and one is in ICU.

The NT’s CHO says, starting from today, anyone in the territory who has had COVID-19 will not be considered a close contact or be required to undertake testing for 12 weeks after they exit isolation. Previously, this period was eight weeks.

After 12 weeks, people will need to comply with all testing and isolation requirements (previously it was an eight-week period for this direction).
