It is alleged a 51-year-old Darling Point man, who is an airline freight worker, and a 36-year-old East Hills man were involved in importing 156 kilograms of pseudoephedrine in fabric rolls from India via air cargo, which was seized by Australian Border Force officers in October 2020.
On 8 June 2021, police executed search warrants at the homes of the East Hills man and the Darling Point man.
Approximately 15,000 in cash and multiple electronic devices were seized from the East Hills home, while a mobile phone was seized from the search warrant at Darling Point.
Both men were arrested at their homes and charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled precursor, namely pseudoephedrine, contrary to section 307.11 of the Criminal Code (Cth).
The maximum penalty for this offence is 25 years’ imprisonment.
The 36-year-old East Hills man is scheduled to appear before Central Local Court today (16 June 2021).
The 51-year-old Darling Point man is scheduled to appear before Central Local Court on 4 August 2021.
Police have not ruled out further charges for these men.
