Monday’s front pages are once again dominated by the fallout from the unrest in Russia. News that the Duchess of York has undergone a successful operation to treat breast cancer following a routine check-up also makes headlines, as does Sir Elton John’s epic Glastonbury performance.
The Financial Times says the weekend’s events have “laid bare the cracks” in President Vladimir Putin’s authority, while while the i notes the silence from the Kremlin since the mutiny.
President Putin could “lash out” according to the front page of the Daily Mail which speculates Russia’s leader could go for “Stalin-style” purge of his enemies.
Foreign Office diplomats have been told to prepare for the fall of President Putin and more unrest in Russia, the Times reports.
The Metro says there are “treasons to be cheerful” as Ukraine makes progress on the battlefield in the wake of the mutiny.

Elsewhere, a number of the papers carry pictures of the Duchess of York, following her diagnosis with breast cancer with the Daily Express noting the operation was a success and she was discharged over the weekend.
Her cancer shock leads the Sun as the paper quotes a friend of Sarah Ferguson praising the staff at King Edward VII’s Hospital in Marylebone, central London.
The Daily Mirror says Sarah Ferguson is recovering back home in Windsor, Berkshire, with family including ex-husband Prince Andrew.
The Daily Telegrah covers the Prince of Wales’s vow to make ending homelessness his “life’s work” ahead of a big project launch which has been two years in the making for Prince William.
Finally, the Daily Star touches on Sir Elton John headlining Glastonbury, but the tabloid focuses on the show being the singer’s last as it says “Rock it man’s farewell” in the top corner of the paper.
