The front page mixes the story with a picture of a young Prince William and his late mother. The tabloid also carries ‘heart-breaking’ tributes to the father and son killed after their Titanic tourist sub imploded earlier this week
Daily Mirror
The Daily Mirror leads with comments from the co-chair of the British Medical Association who warns the latest five-day junior doctors’ industrial action – the longest one ever – a strike which does not need to go into the history books as he urges the government to make a “credible” pay offer

The Daily Telegraph says households will be spared a levy on their energy bills to fund the hydrogen industry. Sir Elton John dominates the top of the paper as the sun is set to go down on one of Britain’s great performers. From pop royalty to the Royal Family – the Prince and Princess of Wales are pictured during a procession at Royal Ascot
Financial Times

Daily Mail
The Daily Mail says MoneySaving expert Martin Lewis has welcomed the chancellor’s agreement with banks – which include HSBC and Barclays – designed to help families hit by surging mortgage repayments. Former PM Boris Johnson dodges Westminster once again in his second column in the paper, choosing to hail the Titan submersible explorers

The Sun
The Princess of Wales waves at the side of The Sun as the tabloid splashes on an exclusive story with the mother of TV star and model Katie Price who opens up about her daughter’s suicide attempts. Images from the Glastonbury Festival and Royal Ascot light up some of the front pages. The Prince and Princess of Wales beam at the racecourse in Surrey as festival goers await the final performance of Sir Elton John’s career.

Prince William is the main feature in the Daily Express as he makes a steely vow to tackle homelessness in the UK.

The Daily Mail hails Jeremy Hunt’s decision to, as the paper puts it, “ease the pain” of rising mortgage repayments. But, the Daily Mirror accuses the chancellor of falling short, saying some homeowners will be missed out altogether – while there’s also no support for renters.

The Times leads with claims the government could block pay rises of 6% or higher for public sector workers as part of plans to tackle inflation. It says Rishi Sunak would overrule the independent pay review bodies if he considers that salary increases could set off a so-called “wage-price spiral”.

Energy Security Secretary, Grant Shapps, tells the Daily Telegraph that he’s scrapped a planned levy on household energy bills to fund the hydrogen industry. He tells the paper he didn’t want to see bills “unnecessarily bashed” by estimated £120 price increase. Mr Shapps says the money would instead come from “further up the chain”.

The Guardian warns of what it calls a “tsunami” of dangerous vapes arriving in the UK. It says trading standards agents have already seized more than two-and-a-half million sub-standard devices since the beginning of 2020. One-point-three million of those were seized by one council, Hillingdon, whose area includes Heathrow Airport. The paper cites one expert, who warns this is just the “tip of the iceberg”. The Department of Health says it’s taking “bold action” to tackle the problem.

Britain is experiencing a shortage of the weight-loss injection Ozempic, according to the lead story in the i. The popular injection is used by some people with type 2 diabetes. The paper reports there has been a sharp rise in demand for the drug after it was promoted by some celebrities and social media influencers.

Finally, the Sun carries an exclusive interview with Katie Price’s motherwho claims her daughter tried to take her own life after she crashed her car adding the TV star and model experienced “toxic” relationships.
