Daily Telegraph front page
Dominic Raab has said it is possible to set high standards without staff being bullied and insists he has “behaved professionally at all times”, reports the Daily Telegraph. In an interview with the paper, the deputy prime minister defends his management style following allegations of bullying from civil servants.
Sun front page
The Sun leads with the search for missing Nicola Bulley being moved to the sea on Thursday. Officers searched Morecambe Bay, amid the possibility she had been swept 20 miles downriver. It has emerged she was last spotted nearly two hours before the police were called, the paper reports.
Front page of the Guardian
The Guardian leads with a story about a major upheaval in the view taken by the Church of England on same-sex marriage. From as early as this summer, it reports, priests will be able to bless civil marriages. There is also room on the front page to mark the passing of legendary songwriter Burt Bacharach.
Times front page
The Times reports that Ukraine is prepared to use British long-range missiles to hit targets in Crimea, the peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014. Following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the UK, Rishi Sunak promised to send more military aid to Ukraine and now discussions are taking place over whether this should include Harpoon anti-ship missiles or Storm Shadows, the paper notes. It says that Ukrainian defence sources have confirmed to the Times that Ukraine would be prepared to use the missiles to strike targets in Crimea.
Metro front page
“They need your help now” declares the Metro. The paper says a child was rescued after being trapped under a flattened tower block for 79 hours after an earthquake hit Syria and Turkey. The Disasters Emergency Committee has put out a plea for help as the death toll rises, notes the paper.
Daily Mail front page
The Daily Mail reports the Treasury was under pressure on Thursday night to cut taxes after AstraZeneca criticised how expensive it was to do business in the UK. The global giant said it was building a plant in the Republic of Ireland and not in the UK because of “discouraging taxes”, the paper notes. This call for lower corporate taxes comes a month before the chancellor’s spring budget.

The Financial Times leads on the corporate battle at Disney, which has resulted in restructuring and the loss of 7,000 jobs after action by an investor. The paper reports Nelson Peltz has declared “the proxy fight is over” after securing changes at the company.
Daily Express front page
The Daily Express says anger is growing because “greedy” banks are refusing to pass on higher interest rates to savers. The cost of mortgages has increased, but saving rates have not kept pace, notes the paper. It reports that the co-founder of SavingsChampion.co.uk said, “This shoddy behaviour… is nothing new.”
Daily Mirror front page
Money-saving expert Martin Lewis says plans to raise the cap on energy bills would be a “national act of harm”, reports the Daily Mirror. The paper says the finance guru was taking aim at Conservative plans to increase the limit on a typical family’s energy costs from £2,5000 a year to £3,000 in April.
Daily Star front page
The Daily Star says the comic legend with “Chuckle in his” name has unveiled a plan to get people laughing again. A picture of songwriter Bacharach is also featured on the paper’s front page and described as the “greatest song writer of all time”.

An image of a two-year-old boy rescued after three days trapped under a flattened building in Turkey is on the front page of Metro. 

The paper focuses on the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal, with the headline “they need your help now”. 

The Financial Times has a photo of a girl rescued in the same Turkish province, and says that time and hope is running out.

The Guardian features an interview with a man in Aleppo in northern Syria, who says the country urgently needs food and blankets. 

Several of the morning editions report on AstraZeneca’s decision to build a factory in Dublin, instead of Cheshire. The pharmaceutical giant said the UK’s tax system was “discouraging”. 

It is the lead story in the Daily Mail – which says the Treasury is under pressure to cut taxes, while the Daily Telegraph says the firm’s chief executive said that Britain’s life sciences sector was at risk. 

It is a similar tone in the Times – which says the company suggested that its wider research and development spending in the country could be in jeopardy. 

The search for Nicola Bulley, which has now been extended to the sea, also features heavily on the front pages. 

Friday marks two weeks since the 45-year-old went missing in Lancashire. 

The Sun claims that police are looking for a red van which was spotted near to where she disappeared. The Mail says officers are tracing around 700 drivers who passed along the road on the morning she was last seen. 

Ukraine is prepared to use British long-range missiles to hit Crimea, according to the Times. Rishi Sunak promised to send more military aid to Kyiv after meeting President Zelensky in the UK earlier this week.

The paper quotes Ukrainian defence sources, who have said that the country would be ready to use any missiles provided to target Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.

The Daily Mirror leads on comments made by the money-saving expert Martin Lewis on BBC Radio Four’s programme on Thursday morning. 

He said that government plans to raise the cap on energy bills in April would be a “national act of harm”. The paper said that Mr Lewis had “savaged” the move.

The Daily Express claims that banks are being “blasted” for not passing on higher interest rates to savers. 

The paper says that while the cost of mortgage borrowing has shot up, saving rates have not kept pace. It carries an interview with the co-founder of SavingsChampion.co.uk- who described the behaviour as “shoddy” and “nothing new”.

And the i says that raw sewage from an HS2 construction site is being pumped into a green belt river

The paper says problems at the Maple Lodge Treatment Works in Hertfordshire means polluted water is being discharged into the River Colne. 

In a statement, HS2 said it was working closely with Thames Water to manage waste water.
