Daily Mail front page — Many of the front pages feature stories from the Duke of Sussex’s interview with a US broadcaster and his comments about his relationship with the rest of the Royal Family. The Daily Mail reports the palace is shocked at Harry’s remarks, and quotes one royal source as accusing the duke of delusion and “breathtaking arrogance” over claims he wanted to “protect” his grandmother the Queen.

Daily Mirror front page — The Daily Mirror chooses to focus on what it calls Prince Harry’s “jubilee dither” over his refusal to commit to whether he is coming to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Under the headline “are you coming or not then?”, the paper says he and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have been invited to the June celebrations but refused to confirm if he would attend.

Metro font page — The Metro leads with Prince Harry’s comments that the memory of his mother Princess Diana helped him to cope with the split from the rest of the Royal Family and building a life in the US. The duke also said the Queen still confides in him after he made a visit to to see her in Windsor last week, the paper reports.

Daily Express front page — The Daily Express describes the interview as the “ultimate Royal snub”. The paper claims the duke “stoked Royal tensions” in his interview after refusing to say whether he missed his father Prince Charles or brother Prince William.

Daily Star front page — The Daily Star doesn’t pull any punches in its view of the duke. Under the headline “The ego has landed,” the paper says Prince Harry has left the “Royals at War” with his comments.

Guardian front page — The Guardian reports that Prime Minister Boris Johnson has failed to block an inquiry into whether he misled Parliament over parties in Downing Street. The paper says a “mutiny” from Tory backbench MPs left the government instead proposing an amendment to delay the investigation until after the Metropolitan Police concludes its inquiry and senior civil servant Sue Gray publishes her report.

The i front page — Dozens of backbenchers were preparing to defy Mr Johnson’s attempt to block an inquiry and abstain on the vote, the i reports. The paper says some Conservative MPs are concerned they will be “burned” over the issue. It says after the Owen Paterson case when MPs were ordered to back the government and then the government U-turned, several MPs are concerned about being forced to vote in support of Mr Johnson.

Daily Telegraph front page — The Daily Telegraph reports on Russia’s successful test of a new missile that the paper dubs the “world’s deadliest weapon”. It says President Vladimir Putin boasted of the first successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile, known as Satan II, which can carry a dozen nuclear warheads and is capable of striking “anywhere in the world”.

Times front page — The children’s commissioner has called for a ban on smacking in England and Northern Ireland, the Times reports. The paper says Dame Rachel de Souza said the government should follow Scotland and Wales’ lead in changing the law to prevent parents from using physical punishment on children.

Su front page — The Sun has a a report on an exclusive interview with Donald Trump with its columnist Piers Morgan. Following a series of fiery exchanges over Morgan’s comments about the storming of the US Capitol in January 2021 and Mr Trump’s claims the 2020 election was stolen, the former US President branded Mr Morgan a “fool” and stormed out of the interview, the paper says.

Financial Times front page — The Financial Times leads with the news that streaming giant Netflix shares have dropped by $60bn (£46bn), nearly 40% of its market value, after an exodus of subscribers. The company anticipates it will lose around two million subscriptions between April and June, after already shedding aroud 200,000 from the beginning of the year, the paper reports.

Under the headline “Johnson seeks to delay vote on Partygate”, the Daily Telegraph reports on the latest move by Tory whips and ministers to head off a ballot on whether Prime Minister Boris Johnson misled parliament.

The Guardian claims Mr Johnson was forced to abandon plans to block the vote outright, in the face of a backbench mutiny.

Tory MPs have told the Times that the proposal to hold a vote after senior civil servant Sue Gray has published her report will be be enough to buy off most rebels – but could spell heightened danger for the PM if the Conservatives do badly in next month’s local elections.

“PM rigs rules to delay probe” is the Daily Mirror’s headline. It says it is a “dark day’ with the Tories set to “dodge vote over Boris party lies”.

The prime minister will unveil investment deals worth more than a billion pounds in sectors including healthcare and software engineering on his trade mission to India, according to the Daily Express.

Both the Times and the Mirror report that Mr Johnson has hinted at relaxing visa restrictions as part of a free trade agreement he hopes to announce by the end of the year.

The Times says the prime minister will face a delicate balancing act attempting to woo the Indian government while encouraging it to move away from its its traditional support for Russia.

“Children’s tsar calls for ban on smacking” is the lead story in the Times. It reports that the Children’s Commissioner Rachel de Souza has said in an interview that she’s supportive of extending a law restricting such physical discipline which currently only exists in Scotland and Wales, to England.

The paper quotes a government source as acknowledging the issue is “polarising’” but indicating there are no plans to change the law in England.

Many front pages carry a new photo of the Queen, released to mark her 96th birthday. She’s pictured smiling and holding the reins of two of her grey fell ponies.

But together with the universal birthday well-wishing, the headlines react to what many describe as Prince Harry’s latest “bombshell” interview on American television.

“Get orf your high horse Harry” is the Sun’s advice following claims from the Duke of Sussex that he was trying to “protect” the Queen, while the Daily Mail claims there was “Palace shock at Harry: duke of delusion.”

The Express suggests he had delivered the “ultimate royal snub” by dithering over whether he would attend the Queen’s jubilee next month and failing to answer a question over whether he missed his father and brother.

On its inside pages however, the paper turns to a happier subject, the special preparations being made for this year’s derby at Epsom to mark the jubilee.

The Express says there’ll be a guard of honour of royal jockeys and that it is hoped that one of three horses entered by the Queen, will break her “derby duck”. The race remains the only one of five British horse-racing classics she hasn’t won as an owner.
